Thanks to all of you for your well wishes and prayers. I know that Bob will check this thread when he gets a chance and thank you himself but right now he's kinda busy.

I need to call either Karen or Bob but I'm kinda waiting until things settle down and they feel like talking and have the time to do so. If they put him in a follow up care unit like they did last time, I'll get the room number and phone, if possible, and post it here for those who want to call him personally or maybe drop him a line or two.

Randy, have you spoke with either of them in the last couple of days?

Gimme a little while to hear back from Karen. I sent her an email concerning calling him after he got settled in so she should let me know what his room # is and if he has his cell with him. I'll email you what I have and any new numbers if I get any.

Em

I'll certainly pass along all these well wishes. He's supposed to be having an EKG and dialysis today but I'm gonna try and call him on his cell at 5pm for a quickie. We usually talk around 2 hours but not this time. hahahahaha

Keep those thoughts and prayers going !

For anyone trying to call Bob - hold off for a while... he has an NG tube going from his nose to his stomach - so he can barely talk and it hurts when he does. When I called him this morning his voice was really raspy and he did not want to talk. Later I talked to his nurse and got the background of why he had an NG tube. He kept throwing up - as he was doing last Saturday. They took an xray of his belly and he has a big pocket of air that is blocking anything from going through his small intestine (and he has no colon)... basically he has an intestinal blockage, so they stopped feeding him and put in the tube to relieve the pressure, hoping the air pocket will dissipate. He hasn't had a blockage for over 10 years so this surprised me. But at least they found it and although he is hungry, the pains in his belly are subsiding. Hopefully things will "break loose" tomorrow and then he will be able to eat again.

He had dialysis again today - another 4 hours. In 3 sessions they have taken off 11.2 liters of fluid or almost 25 pounds. His legs are no longer hard with fluid - and there is no pressure on his amputation site so wound care nurse said it is healing better. Dr. McCollister would be very pleased. The dialysis seems to be doing what was desired - getting the fluid off the legs/feet as well as from around the heart and lungs. The RN told me that when she helped PT/OT this AM, they had him sitting on the edge of the bed and then doing exercises with his arms and legs in the bed before he went to dialysis. He still lies in bed all day - hooked up to tubes so I worry that he will lose more strength. Between not eating and not moving - it concerns me.

He is still taking pain medication in his IV every two hours as his legs and feet are producing a lot of pain. I think they must have gotten hurt more than we thought in the two falls on Sunday.

He's not in good shape but I do feel better about the care he is receiving. I am hoping to be able to talk to one of the doctors on Friday so they can tell me what they think the future holds... and how long they think it will be before I can bring him home. I miss him - and so do the dogs, Misty & Shadow!

Thanks for all the phone calls, the emails and the prayers! They are working.

Karen

Just got this update from Karen:

Bob had a bad day Saturday. 5th day of dialysis & he became tachycardic so the RN called a code blue. No heart attack, but they think they hit his dry weight & became too dry. He could not talk - no voice. His kidney & his bowels are not functional yet. Need prayers.

I was gonna call him again, when I got that CaringBridge update from Karen asking us not to call until he can talk without pain.

With all he has been through - at least the parts I know about - he is a real survivor! That cantankerous ol boy is likely gonna outlive all of us! He's just too stubborn to stay down long!

If you get a message through to him, tell him I said Hi again and that we are all hoping for a speedy recovery!

Dave and Gang, here's Karen's latest update from Facebook:

PTL! ! We are making progress. The doctors kicked Bob out of the hospital and transferred him to a care center in Crosby today. Now rehab starts- PT, OT & Speech therapy. No need for more dialysis yet. Will update CaringBridge later.

Don't know yet but the speech therapy might indicate a possible T.I.A. - - Karen's CB post should be more detailed. She is really caring a huge load and we worry about her as well so please keep them both in Y'alls thoughts and prayers.

Em
