Thanks guys, I have been home since Sat. but was trying to clean up my E-mails first. Then the damn snow, Friday we got 8", Sat. night we got another 8 to 10 inches Wed. another storm is suppose to come in.

I have had deer and turkeys in eating corn like crazy, and if they run out they just lay down in the yard, and wait for more. We have one big doe that will not wait, she comes up and puts her nose on the window, she thinks she's the boss as she has been coming for 3 years.

I'm doing pretty good, I can sit up and take in food, and I can still drink beer.

Bob

I'm glad you're feeling better.

But I must add I'm a little jealous of the beer drinking part. The doctors cut me off.

I know what you mean Bob. The deer are just starting to move around here. Pretty soon the'll be camped out on the front lawn and sleeping next to the dogs in the kennels. I haven't seen her yet but there's a doe that lays down in the shade by the shop that I call Lulu that just lays there as you pass by and she's a good listener when I stop to talk. Some day I'll tell the story of Bob the Deer. It's a good one. As a teaser here's a question for you. Have you ever dragged a Buck up the driveway by his antlers at 2:00 in the morning?
Good to have you home. Stay well.

Good to see you Bob, your post reminded me of this video. I hope you can see it, I don't understand this facebook stuff when it works and when it doesn't for people.

BB I have pulled a buck that was over 200 LBS in the woods, but not up the driveway at 2 in the morning. One year an old boy from Ky. and I shot 8 deer 4 miles from the nearest road, and atv's were not around at the time. WE were hunting with a bunch that never shot a deer, but always wanted their share. So we thought up the idea that we would go way back in the swamp with little islands of trees pick one or two, and shoot some deer and let them come out and drag them back.
So we marked our trail, shot the deer, went back to camp told them guys where they were to go get them. there were some guys poed at us, and it was pretty late when they got back.

Bob

As I type this there are about 15 deer standing on my patio.

Brian I love films like that, People can learn a lot from animals.

Bob the thing I forgot to tell you was the deer wasn't dead. He was busy rattling his antlers in the chain link fence down at the kennels trying to get the dogs to play with him. I was just trying to get him the heck off my property and for him to go home!

I dearly love the taste of venison and believe me I have devoured many pounds of it over my 71+ years. My youngest son and I used to put 10 deer a year in the freezer. However, there came a time in my life several years back that I chose never to shot another animal unless it was endangering me, my family or my pets. Now I just watch them and snap pics to enjoy later.

P.S. I still like the taste of venison, however !

It's good to hear you're doing well.

I don't know what it is about growing older, but when I was younger (living in Mn.) I loved to hunt. Now I take the same stance as you, I don't kill anymore.

I get angry when I see a dead pet in the road. Angry at the owner.

Bob, back to topic. You're good people, I am shouting out a little prayer to the man upstairs to give that Doc a little plink to the ear to keep him awake when he writes your meds. No more scares.

Isn't it funny how we can change. I never was a hunter but as child killed LOTS of animals with my BB gun and later a .22 it was a daily sort of event. When I think of walking out my back door in his town with a .22 and shooting it, lolol, the SWAT team would be at my door in two and a half minutes now!
Anyway, now, are you kidding, I take the rodents my cat brings in if they are still doing well and bring them down to the rail road tracks a few blocks away and let them go.
