I just bought a Consew 206RB at a great price and I have seen heavy thread used on "french seams". anyone know the thread size, where I can purchase and how do I determine the needle size for this older Consew.
My other machine is a old Chandler-Adler that I love.
Thanks
Bill
Hi Bill, I bought my 206RB in the early 1980's and made a good living with it.The needle size I use most is 135X17 140/22. As for top stitching thread size 207 might be what you want. Here's a supplier that treats you right
The thread that a lot of guys are using now is called QTC contrast, which is size 270 bonded nylon. 135X17 is not the needle size, it's the needle system (type of needle) the machine uses. 140/22 is the needle size. 140 is metric and 22 is US. You need at least a size 25 needle to sew with size 270 thread on your Consew 206.
Thank you guys for your input..Appreciate your knowledge and help.
Regards
Bill
