Three damaged Th350s in Row ?
I have put two rebuilt th350 trannys in and each got ate by a bad torque converter (I thought) that munched the pump. Then I had another highly reputable builder build a third t350 and HE installed it with a new torque converter, and the pump sounds fried again, that high-pitched screeching started right away, the one that gets louder as car is revved up. I don't know what is going on exactly. I do see what looks like a little bit of forward-to-backward movement at the flexplate and torque converter. The gap was perfect between the flexplate and the torque converter, just shy of 3/16. It's mated to a '69 Chevelle 350 motor that I took from my running '69 and put into my '71 Chevelle.

I forgot to flush the lines and cooler on transmission No. 3 and started it and ran it for a few minutes, then went back to flush it. Culprit?

Oh, changed to brand new flywheel and transmission pins were perfectly in.

OK, last question ... if shrapnel got into transmission and killed pump, what part of that tranny is salvageable for next build? And is torque converter usable and do I have to have all this stuff cleaned out in a particular way? I put about 5 miles on the tranny around town before it squeeled like a pig. Thanks, guys!
