Yes- the CC hooks to the same place as the throttle, NOT down below- that's where the kickdown will eventually hook.
Tech @ BG is correct when he said Q-jets used a long stud to hook the throttle and CC up to the same place. You might try using a Holley
p/n 20-36,
p/n 20-64 or the BG equivalent.
