Thunder Road

A couple of weeks ago we were talking about old movies and someone mentioned Thunder Road. Everyone agreed that it was a cool movie but no one seemed to remember to much about it except for the '36 3 window. So I found a copy on line and ordered it. Last night 4 of us popped the DVD in and watched it over suds and 'corn. It's still a cool movie! Boy, they sure were hard on those '57 Fords! Dose anyone know anything about the '36 3 window? It resembles the Pierce brothers coupe, but then that was a very popular style in the early '50's.

There was another movie out about the same time. I don't remember the name of it but it had Chuck Conners, as a cop trying work with some local hot rodders. I'm thinking it hard Leo Gorchwin and maybe Doug McClure as the hot rodders. Dose that ring a bell for anyone?

The thing I remember most about the movie was the fact that the sene where the gas station exploded they didnt use near enough explocive to do any real damage, just enough to kick up alot of dust and they used a CABLE to pull the car that was stting out front over.

You can see the cable pulling the car over on the film.

kinda like night of the liveing dead, they used a water and chocolate mix for the blood. It was black and white and looked the same anyhow.

LOL even old school movies have tricks

The movie with Chuck Conners and Frank Georshin was......
"HOT ROD GIRL" 1956

When a hot rodders younger brother is killed in a tragic street race, he takes the heat and distances himself from his friends. It's up to the local Detective, who is trying to get the kids on the track, to bring calm to the scene and mend old ties. Rock and roll and kids running wild.....daddyo.
