Tilt steering column Ididit or Flaming river.

I am ready to buy a steering column for my 31 model A coupe. I just want opinions on which brand I should go with. Or are they both good quality and just buy which ever I can get the best deal?

For me, I couldn't find enough differences to pull me one way or the other, and I have a friend who is a Flaming River Dealer, so I bought one of those. The only down side I could find (and I'm being picky here) is that I wish the tilt had a wider area of adjustment-

Now, on U-Joints, wathc out-I bought Unisteer, and while they are very well made, they are big and massive, and I mean they are big and massive! Be sure you have the room-

Thanks, that is what I was thinking of the smaller Dia. will look more old school. The drop is cool, but I have an aluminum connecting rod out of my cousins racing engine that I plan on using as my drop.

Speedy I have a Flaming River 1 3/4 shaft. I have sent it back to Flaming River twice now because of play in it. When the wheel is on you can grab the top and bottom and it will move up and down, same on the sides. I will say they fix it fast, maybe too fast. I'm going to have to take it out and send it back again as it is starting to move. They told me they knew what the trouble was, I just wish they would fix it.

I have an IDIDIT - and have absolutely no complaints. I bought mine at an NSRA show directly from the owner who was able to answer the questions I had. I had occasion to call them later with a simple question as well and it was answered quickly and competently. The Flaming River appears to be a 'clone' at least externally.

Now, as far as diameter - the 1.75 appears too small to me, but that is a matter of personal choice though you may limit yourself to adapters and steering wheels - not sure, but you had best do your homework on them to be sure.

Thanks,The 1.75 has only to do with the bottom part, but you have helped and I will be getting an Ididit. As far as I know they where the original and I guess still the best.
