It will not run if it is 180 off. When my distributer was off 180 it back fired and flames were shooting out of the carb. It only happened after my rebuild and it was my only experience, so I do not think it`ll run 180 off.

yea thats what i thought. cuz when i put my 350 i havnt really had it running long enough cuz im still messin with shimming my starter right but when i got it running sorta before it wouldnt start at all then i started messin with the distribor and moved it way over to the drivers side of my intake and it amlost runs but really rough and still shooting flames a bit so i think its 180 off just havnt got my starter back to go giver a try yet

it is probably off a few teeth, put the motor on tdc compression on #1, mark the #1 terminal on the body of the distributor, then pull the cap and see where the rotor is pointing. if its off just pull the distributor up and line the rotor and the mark up and drop it back in. you might have to turn the oil pump shaft a little to get the gear to line up.
