timing gears need grinding

i just bought a dual idler noisey timing gear drive for my 327. i installed the cam, thrust bearing, cam and crank gears, and the cam "button". but i have to grind the cam button to clear the timing cover a lil and i have to grind the power idler axle on the block side. does anyone have any tips for me not to grind to much off.

i think you grind the block & not the idler gears, also you don't grind on the cam button. you dent the cover for clearance.

the instructions say togrind the power idler axle, not the gear its self, and to slightly grind cam button. but i was going to just dent the cover.
