I know nothing about them on v8 but my ford straight 6 170 has a gear/gear timing and I believe the v6 84 chevy citation and even my Jeep 4.0 may use one all with better service then any BELT they are no noise types. Not saying you are wrong, these do only use two gears meashed together not an idler typy which may be the problem.
