timing set for ford 302

I am planning on installing a new timing set in my 302. There are a million choices ranging for 20 bucks for a standard cloyes all the way to about $315 for some cloyes hex-a-just "true" timing set.

There is also a "heavy duty" double roller timing set for $50. 2 Edelbrock sets for about $41 and $64 and a comp cams set for $57.

All together there are 27 different timing sets to choose from.

Is there any reason to buy anything other than the $50 heavy duty double roller set? Is the $20 set fine? I am assuming I don't need the $315 set especially for a stock engine...

The Edelbrock or Comp Cams units will fit the budget,it is important that you know what year 302 you have as there are two thicknesses of timing sets and Ford used two different fuel pump eccentrics and the cam will have a different pin length depending on which one you have. You may want to check this out:http://www.mre-books.com/engine/rebuilding.html both books would be a big help to you,try www.half.com for bargains on used books.
