Another question:
I have the heads off my 350 SBC and turned the motor over by hand until the no 1 piston is up. The timing mark on the 8" harmonic balancer is straight up and I can see part of and feel a timing tab on top. The water pump is above it.
Pardon my ignorance, but what's the trick in using a timing light and seeing the timing tab when the water pump is directly above the tab and obscures the tab from view?
Thanks
