Tint on classic cars

What everyones opinion on tinting the windows of an older car?
I think that as long as you dont go too dark, like 40% would be about the limit.

I had the windows on my '57 Plymouth tinted. I'm glad I did. I had to replace the windshield, which the new one was now clear. It no longer matched the factory light green tint to the rest of the windows. The tint hid that. I used a light tint, and it looked good, imo.

Pics were taken at a Padres game, where my car was used as part of a Hot Wheels promotional display.

Wow your car looks really good. I think it depends how dark you go which makes it look good or too much. Yours is perfect.

Agreed. You can still see inside, steering, dash, outline of a person if they were sitting in the car. Cops get nervous when they can't see outlines or profiles. Cal. can be tough on tinted windows.

Thought about tinting the windows on my gasser in red or yellow tint like the old plexiglass windows of 60's race cars, but after looking through some of them on other cars I didn't like the view from inside looking through those colors. I'll leave them clear.

Go for it

I say if you think it will look good go for it. If you don't like it. Its not to hard to take back off.

I have never tinted anything older than a 70's car. but I plan on tinting my 50 truck cab when done. Of course I have a long way to go before I worry myself with problems like tint

Sweet chop. I'm gonna have to take on a project like that one day. Will you widen the roof to match the base of the pillars, or taper the pillars in to match the roof?
