Tire and rim size suggestions

I have decided on a set of American Racing Torq Thrust II's for my 1953 Ford F-100 truck. I am interested in a 15 inch rim. What width should I go with. They have one rim that is 7 inches wide and the other is 8.5. What tire size do you think would go with each width?

Thanks for your help.

P.S. I forgot to mention that this vehicle is currently in the process of a frame-off restoration. With that in mind, I am unable to measure any clearances. So, if you have any experience with the 53-56 Ford F-100's (with a mustang II front end), please let me know what should fit. Thanks

Wider... Is better!

Go with the 8.5's! A wider tire means better cornering and a bigger contact patch.

You've got a lot of unknown variables to determine before you can order wheels-
When you get your rough assembly done, then you'll be able to measure to find how wide what offset and what O.D. tire and wheel combo to use.
You're not telling us what width rear, what front track width,or even what look you're going for,so we can't help you very much.
It's much easier to buy wheels to fit your truck than build the truck to fit the wheels.
I'm not trying to bust your chops here, but I've seen guys buy "perfect"wheels and tires and not be able to use them because they got ahead of themselves.
Good Luck,George
