Tires and Rims

I have a set of 38.5x16x16.5 swampers. They are Bias and I hate them very much. They were on the truck when i bought it. I have a set of 37x12.5x16.5 radial mudder terrains. My issue is that I THINK my rims are 14 inches wide. I hope that the ARE 12 inches but I dont know. My question is can I mount a 12.5 wide tire on a 14 inch wide rim. (if the rim is 14 inches wide)

I've never used that big of a tire but normally you wouldn't want to install a tire that is wider than the wheel. I think a 12.5" tire would work much better on a 10" wheel.

tire and wheel

The tire is only 12.5 and the rim 14. That is only about 1.5 wider than the actual rim i wouldnt think that is to much of a strectch

Did you read my reply? you normally don't want to run a wheel that is wider than the tire. Now if you don't think "that is to much of a stretch" then by all means install them and enjoy.

do you take this truck out and thrash it in the mud etc.?
or is it just a tall truck you use for every day truck stuff?

ok, never mind, it doesn't matter because you said 16.5

16.5 wheels do not have a bead retention lip like other wheels do

i would not even put a 12.5 tire on a 12 wheel when you are talking about 16.5

you need to stay a couple inches narrower than the tire

i would start looking on craigslist for some 16" wheels and tires, they are pretty cheap if you take your time looking, most guys are going to bigger wheels (17-22) so the 16s are pretty easy to find
