Today... I shed a tear!
I know that this is probably a small thing to most of you men .. And from previous posts, I have mentioned that my son is starting to become a rodder! Today I walked out of the house to find my son underneath the malibu.. Hubby pulling out the camshaft . and my son taking off the headers! HE IS TURNING INTO ONE OF US!!! it makes me so proud! He is 11 years old and is now using dads compressor.. taking off headers and doing oil changes. Kinda brings a tear to my eye!
Covered in grease... sopping in oil and gettting dirtier than I have ever seen. Most moms would cringe at the oil .. Just makes me sniff.. sniff..... get all choked up ... (I took pictures.. ) when they are developed i will share .... Hmmm.. I wonder if he is gonna marry a greasewhore? pup

Hmmm...1 years old hey. Does that makes him a grease punk?

Now Kim, Are you sure you're not choked up because he's working on the malibu and not the monte? Ha Ha Seriously though, that's great. I had promised my 3 year old daughter that just she and I would do something together last Sunday. Sunday morning comes and she says "Dad can we go to another car show?" I almost cried then. Two weeks ago I took her to Super Chevy Show at Indy Raceway Park. We were there from 9:30 A.M. till 6 P.M. and she did not want to leave. Maybe we can start up a preschool chapter of the greasewhore sisterhood for up and coming gearheads.

My first auto "job" was changing the front shocks on a 59 Pontiac Wagon. Dad HAD to jack the car. I didn't have enough umph. He will remember this stuff forever.
Grease Chimp, not quite a monkey yet.

When my youngest daughter was 13 I bought an old Harley golf cart to use as a yard mule, the day "Harley Hog" arrived in the yard my daughter became a hotrodder, she stripped and painted it (strange purple) put big wheels and tires on it, upholstered the seat, all on her own, I didn't know she had it in her, but all those years of helping dad out in the shop and now some motivation, she built a beauty. All the other toys (dirt bike, go-kart, old Barbie type stuff) were abandoned. For three years the old Harley golf cart was on the run from dawn to dusk, she could get up to six neighbor kids on it at once and off they'd go. I'd hear new stories every day, even had to get Harley out of a tree once! (don't ask).
Then came a drivers permit and a hot rod S-15 shortbed, she does all the work herself (less the engine change ole dad was up till three in the morning on that one). She's going to college in the next few weeks, not too far away but I'm gonna miss that kid!
