toggle switch on 700r4 for lock-up

Would I be able to install a toggle switch between the 12 volt source to switch "lock-up" on & off on a 700r4 tranny. I only want lock-up when Im crusin, not when stopping and going through traffic. So is it that simple just to put a toggle switch between the source to fix this problem? Not to sure?

Toggle Switch.

Check out BOW TIE OVERDRIVES. They are in So. California. They installed a toggle on my truck years ago (late 90's). Nice guys.... truck is long gone though.

They are in Hesperia/ Victorville area.
Google them.

Hope this helps....if not disregard.

Thanks.

if you want to lock up in 4th gear only you can do this with out a toggle switch depending on the year of the trans . All 700s have a 4th gear switch some a normaly open [need pressure to ground] some are normaly closed The 4th gear switch is at the back of the valve body farthest from the wire harness plug in the trans. you need a normaly open swith to do this . put 12 volts to the "a " terminal on the external plug of the trans . This will supply power to the + side of the solenoid [you need o 2 wire solenoid] Cut and splice the rest of the internal harness so the neg side wire goes to the 4th gear switch . You will get lockup only in 4th and with slight throttle at low speeds will downshift to 3rd and unlock the converter. The only time this simple system does no work is on motors with no low end torque the motor lugs too much I build street rod trans as a business and every one likes the way the 700s work with this setup
