Back in my younger days when I wanted to be a cartoonist this man was one of my heroes. I'm glad that he got to see his restored coupe after the fire. We have lost a hot rod legend.
At a Goodguys near me a few years ago he was there signing autographs. I didn't get one, but instead just watched him a little while, what a piece of hot rod history is right!
And all I can say is RIP and thank God for the artist, what beauty they add to the earth.
I wander if he knew how many people loved his work and the influence it had on their lives. I have a tattoo on my arm of my car and myself, the guy that did the work said he got into cars and tattoos from reading Cartoons.
I was always worried that he'd never get to see his car get finished after the fire. To me, that car and Gray Baskervilles roadster were just as iconic as the Kookie Car or the Hirohata Merc
