Took the '50 out for its first drive today!
Yup. Me and my pops got her running pretty good now. All she needed was a new battery, a little carb tuning and the flat 6 wasnt getting any gas so we had to screw around a bit but its gets enough fuel now. It runs a bit hot, at 200 but I read that that's the normal temperature for these engines. Oil pressure is good and no leaks, doesnt smoke either. So my dad just couldnt resist seeing her on the driveway sitting and he got the keys and I hopped in and we went for a short 10 minute drive around the neighborhood. No registration, no plates, no insurance and only the left front brake is functoinal
The truck stalled 3 times cause it was idling to low so that still needs adjusting a bit. It was a great feeling! I'll keep working on her and the brakes are up next. Here are some pics Me and my baby Taking her out for the first time And just when my mom thought we made it back safe from our first round my dad punched it and shifted into third as I gave her the goodbye wave Mike |

And yet more pics
I love the hood! Sorry 'bout the quality, they were shot with a crappy camera and then put on CD by the revealing place. As soon as I get my digi back I'll post some good pics of the engine. Mike |

Dude, that is cool. My first ride had snow studs on it,when I punched it,they threw sparks. I got it during the summer. Sure beats the cool style of my 1978 Pontiac LeMans. PooPoo Brown, with Olds Cutlass wheels, snow studs and a trailer hitch.

Nice looking ride Nightfire.
Treasure these moments not only with your truck, but with your Dad. These are things you will never forget. |

/\70s cars are great for cheap project cars, too bad so many have met their fate in the crusher already, and others put into demolition derby service. I mean, an Olds Delta 88 4door would be a wicked cool custom, they're too heavy to make quick without some serious balls, but a 78 Malibu on the other hand...
Nightrider, awesome truck. I'll bet it's not fast but it's fun to drive and cool. That's what's important. -matt |

Congrats Mike! It is a great feeling knowing that you got it running good, especially if your dad is with you in the cab. I had a night about like that yesterday, I had to have his help to bleed my brakes last night about 10pm. Went for a "test drive" (more like go burn rubber!), My dad hadn't driven it since I got the new tranny and several other mods done to the engine. My neighbors didn't get much sleep with how much he would put into nuetral and coast while reving it to high heaven just to see the neighbors lights come on when they tried to figure out what was driving by!
