Top Bar of Front 4 Bar Link
I am installing a front 4 bar link on my 32 Ford Sedan. I have established the position of the bottom bar brackets. My thoughts were to measure up to keep the bars parallel and position the top bar. I see TCI says to locate the top bar 1/4" behind the vertical line from the bottom bar (measured from the radiator mounting holes). Can anyone explain the significance of the 1/4"?
My bars are adjustable. Maybe the 1/4" establishes castor with solid bars? |

That 1/4" is surely to allow for caster adjustment. No company has ever made a solid bar 4-bar setup as a production retail product as far as I know.
The most important thing is to be sure the bars are parallel, the length thing is secondary as the rear 4-bar setups with non equal length arms and and even angled top bars and straight bottom bars would indicate, since the bars are still parallel with each other. |
