top compression ring??

Hello guys another noob question. I just bought some hasting iron piston rings. Was about to install them and realized that some rings had more gap or clearence than others. So which rings goes on top and which rings go on the bottom? Some are also marked with a dot.

Thanks.

If the rings are new, they should have installation instructions with them, you need to read them. The rings with no markings or dots go in the top groove of the piston and can go either way. The ones that have a dot and/or bevel is the second ring and the dot faces the top of the piston. You also need to make sure the rings are the correct ones for the piston size. Some rings are file fit that require filing them for the correct end gaps.
