Topcoat over epoxy?

Is it ok to put basecoat over epoxy or do you need to
put down a sealer or 2K first?

its perfectly fine to put base over epoxy but the epoxy needs to be real fresh or your going to have adhesion problems. most recoat windows for epoxy is 7 days. i never trust that, i've had too many problems. if its over 24hours old i'd scuff and shoot a fresh coat then base it out.

With epoxy you don't need a sealer, it actually is a sealer.

Topcoat over epoxy?

I talked to a epoxy manufacturer about this.

They said its fine to put base over epoxy, but it is a good idea if
the epoxy has set up for days or weeks to dry sand the epoxy with
400 0r 600 grit sand paper first, prior to laying your paint. The sanding
will give the surface a tooth that the paint can work into.

Thanks... X

I agree, if the epoxy isn't fresh out out of the recoat window you definately need to sand/scuff it prior to applying any topcoats.
