Torque convertor advice
Hi, I have just removed a chevy 305ci from my pickup and have a 350ci to go in it. My 350 engine has a 168tooth flexplate with staggered bolt hole starter motor. The 305 engine has a 153 tooth flexplate and straight hole bolt fixings on the starter.
I will be using the 168 tooth flexplate and staggered hole starter as the straight bolt starter from the 305 will not mount to my 350 The problem I have is that the th350 transmission has a torque convertor with the smaller mounting pattern (diameter) and will not bolt up to the 168 tooth flexplate. I have a spare torque convertor from a th400 transmission that will fit the larger flexplate that I will be using, Would this fit ok in the th350 trans, it is slightly larger in size, or are the th350/th400 convertors not interchangeable? I guess my other option would be to purchase a dual pattern flexplate and use the original convertor from the th350 Any advice would be appreciated Thanks in advance Rich |
