Torquing the Valve body Bolts (whoops?)

hey
my buddy has a chev th350 tranny from a 67 chevelle.. we took the tranny apart and installed a B&M SHIFT kit. We did everything correctly according to the diagrams and such, but when he installed the valve body bolts, i dont think he knew that the paper said 100 in. meaning INCH pounds.. he just torqued them until the torque wrench clicked. I know it wasnt alot of torque he put them to.. but would a mistake like this damage anything or make anything not work? we took out one of the check balls and drilled one of the holes bigger (as noted in the instructions) any help! thanks!

it could crack the valve body. you need an inch pound tq wrench, or a good feel for 100 in/lbs

would it do damage if it was over tightened but the valve body wasnt cracked?.. i know it wasnt tightened to 100 foot pounds because we both knew the bolts would either twist off or the threads would pull out. But it's at a decent tq right now. we havent gotten a chance to put the transmission in yet.. we will soon.

on a th350 it has a cast iron valvebody, if he didnt strip the threads in the case, ull be fine... 100 in. is roughly about 7-8 ft. even on a th350, 10-15 ft lbs, ive not had any problems... aluminum valve bodies r different though, they need exact torquing.

TNsmith10..

when i was torqing the valve body back down, i just used a 3/8" ratchet and torked it a decent amount. I would say roughly 10-15ft pounds. So good to hear its not alluminum.
