tpi setup, opions

i am looking into a tpi setup for my 283. As of right now i ahve just rebuilt the bottom end, stock crank and rods flat top pistons with rebuilt 305 heads. I have not bought a cam yet but I was thinking a summit cam(224/224 , 468"/468"). Anyways i have been looking on ebay trying to explore all my options for air fuel delivery before i go out and buy something. I have been looking at the tpi fuel injection setups off the mid 80's early 90's f bodies. They are selling complete setups(manifold, injectors, wiring, computer, distributor, fuel pump...) for around $400ish. My other option is carb, which is not cheap either: used manifold halfway desent carb and a good distributor are not cheap. First off, would these early tpi setups(i think before 91 they used the old style bolt pattern) fit on my very old 57' block?, And secondly is the tpi worth it? I mean if it worked as intended without major problems?, Classic truckin has been doing articals on how they are not hard to retrofit old motors with the tpi, and only have to make a custom chip for it to work properly Any help would be great!!
