Traction

I have 87 Monte SS with 383 th400 3.73 posi with 480hp. 15x6 up front an 15x10 295 50 15 in the back. Maybe I'm expecting to much, but I have absolutely no traction through my power band in first gear and sometimes not in second. I realize I can run alot stickier tire and the track it's going to hook better, but I'm just looking for any tips to help with with g body style. Traction bar , ladder bar, shocks? Any suggestions appreciated.
Ty

You're not gonna want a lot of traction with that rear, as it's pretty lame. There are bolt-in Ford 9" housings available once you blow up your current axle...

A lack of traction is all that is keeping your rear axle alive, Once you hook it up, it's game over.
Sticky tires, no front sway bar, (4) adjustable drag shocks(like QA1), air bag in right rear, relocate battery to trunk, fiberglass hood, etc.

There is no one thing that will make your car hook well. It's a combination of the above (and others) along with the right combo of engine, converter and gear.
