I friend of mine offered to give me a set of traction bars for my 81 C10 truck. It has leaf springs, and I think these bolt on underneath the springs. Is this something I should install? Will is transfer stress somewhere else and break something else?
This is a weekend street truck. Won't be hauling anything with it. No snow.
They will help to prevent wheel hop but they need to be long enough so the rubber bumper hits close to the spring eye.
The style that uses u-bolts to mount under the spring aren't the best but they will help.
The style that replaces the lower spring plate and the stock axle u-bolts are much better.
Both the above have been around for 40 plus years....
Nowadays most folks use Cal-Trac style traction bars.
I remember back in the mid to late 70's you just had to have a set of yellow traction bars... even better if they were Moroso yellow traction bars :mwink:
I installed a set a few years back on my "time warp" '69 Camaro..
I would like to see how it works I have C10 but it doesnt spin but im worried about the axle winding up. I was thinking about traction bars or a pinion stubber. So if u do use the please post your findings thanks.
