Traction Bars not Close to Spring Eye
I mounted up my Competition Engineering slapper bars to the Nova springs, but when I loaded the rear suspension, the front of the bars did not come up to the front spring eye as indicated in the instructions. There is at least a four inch gap. The snubber makes up about half that, but I thought the front of the traction bars should be much closer to the spring. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be - if there is a problem?

Can't you adjust the angle of the traction bars by adding spacers at the front or rear mounting bolts?

You could use a longer snubber, but don't forget, these bars don't come into play till you drop the hammer. They don't touch the spring under normal driving.

Determine the angle that traction bar needs to be adjusted in order to get required clearance between rubber bumper and leaf spring.
Angled shims are available in 2, 4 and 6 degrees. Buy angled shims, see attached photo. Remove traction bars. Insert angled shims between traction bars and rear mounting bracket. Re install traction bars. |
