To trade or not to trade

I have a bit of a dilemma & need some advice.I have a 67.ironhead I've been restoring almost.all stock but the seat & I have all of the parts to make it stock. Now 67 was the last year of the real hd co & 1st yr of electric start on the xl models, well.I have a fella with a 3/4 ton clean 4x4 chevy with a blue print 383 crate no.ac truck sitting.on 35s.This is 1 of.my dream trucks...but with a cummins in it.Hell I'm.poor just the other day I found.a.4x4 cummins 91.i.c. for 2200 but.it was gone b4 I could blink.
I've had to sell 3 rare bikes last winter & she's my last but this truck is sweet besides me needing to find a aftercare ac what would you do?The trannys out on my lifted ram gasser I was gonna fix it sell save a few more bucks &crackdown a cummins.I.really like.the powerstrokes as I'm.doing.rust repair atleast 1 cummins a month but there a lot more to mod

We certainly can't tell you what you should do. If you REALLY need a truck, it's a hell of a lot more practical than the bike, if you REALLY need that truck be-damned the bike you trade. If you don't REALLY need the truck and it's just a "want" thing, which do you want more? Do you want to relive your younger days on a bike and ride the mountain roads or do you want the truck for the same reasons? Which one makes more sense at that point.

Brian

In general when we do what we need to do and not what we want to do then it works out just fine.. Sure we all want things but then we do not always get what we want.. I have a Harley I no longer can ride and it is in my way in my garage so it is going on the block. I really like the bike and wish I could ride but for health reasons I can't.. If some guy wanted to trade on a Jeep I might look at that.. but then I might not depending on what the guy has in trade..

Main thing is what can you do at this time.. And just for the record I have a nephew who wants some king of cool truck but he needs one that gets him to the job and back so that is what he will get from me..

Sam

There are two shifters. The column shifter for the trans and the floor shifter for the t-case.

Value wise I don't know if it's a good trade or not. But I know these 70's Chevys have increased a lot in value over the last few years. If you want it I say go for it.

Not sure what you are seeing but other than the obvious aluminum gauge panel, it all looks original to me. There is a pad on top, if that is what you thought was glass...

Looks like a sweet truck but I have no idea if the trade is a fair value. I just recently sold a '69 K1500 that needed restoration for $3500.

. Since you already have a truck that just needs a tranny fix, I'd keep the bike...

. Of course, I may be prejudiced since I already have a truck and am jonesing since I haven't had a bike in a while and used to always have one or more... hell, I'd love to even have my old minibike from the 1960's back to ride...:

.
. 350cc 2-cylinder motorcycle engine... self-made from tubing... true dual exhaust... pop-riveted together mufflers before they were cool... ~90 lbs... licensed/street legal...

This guy ended up telling me that his truck is worth 15 to 20 thousand dollars the way it sits and that he wants my bike plus 3000,I. Do love that body style and have always wanted to left one about 9 inches and put 22s wrapped in.37s but thatll have to wait till I have ALOT more money & a cummins donor

. Looks like that guy doesn't want to sell that truck... a Blueprint 383" doesn't impress me, I have a new 405" with MoTown 220cc aluminum heads laying around here...

. I have some 35" x 14.5" wide to put on the back of my '78 F150 someday for a while... stumbled across a nice 35" x 12" at a flea market the other day, so picked that up for $15 for a spare...

must be the lack of the a/c vent throwing me off.. looking at mine it looks like more space from pillar to gauge panel..

I didn't even think to look at column for another shifter.. most I've seen the 4x4 shifter is much shorter..

if that's a pad on top it's not factory..

it's worth maybe 7-8 grand tops.. it's not the top model.. and it's not 15-20k clean..

go look on flee bay at what 15-20k gets you...

now if it was a CST trim, a/c short bed (real short bed not cut down truck) and 4x4..
THEN maybe it be 15-20k if it was showroom clean..
if this long bed was a stick with granny low.. it be worth more to those that would go 4 wheeling with it..
it's a nice truck but not 15k nice....
I'd say you've shown your hand, (ie) he knows you love those trucks..
good luck.. if anything, if that h/d is as rare and value able as you say. it should be him handing truck keys+ cash..

don't get me wrong. I have a 71 long box and love it.. but I paid no where near 15k
