Post tranny identification

How do you identify a GM tranny? I'm a Ford person so I am unsure how to ID the tranny I have in my camaro now. I know its small, the original motor is a small and pathetic 267. I looked on the bottom of the tranny pan and I don't see any markings. I used to have a 81 firebird and it had TH 350 on the bottom pan. Thanks for your help. Bill

Hi bildo95. Fairly sure that your tranny will be a Turbo 350. The pan is the easiest way to identify it. Crawl under your Camaro and check it out. It should be basically a square pan with one corner cut off,on the passenger side. The Vacuum modulator (facing to the rear) should be just above this cut off section. A turbo 250 was also made, but I've never seen one to describe that. The T400 is a lot bigger trans and has the Vacuum Modulator on the passenger side towards the Bell Housing. Hope this Helps........Barry.M
