Tranny rebuilding jobs???

Well I enjoyed rebuilding my first turbo 350 tranny so much, that I am wondering what the procedure is for rebuilding them for a living. Is there certain schools? Do shops require some type of certification? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks y'all!

forgot to mention that I will soon be moving to Phoenix, Arizona.

rebuilding

Every shop is different but, you could probably get an entry level job and go to school and work your way up to a master rebuilder. A good trans tech can just about name there price but it takes time to become skilled enough to be a good rebuilder. A trade school is a good start. There are many seminars to learn about each individual transmission. Most are put on by the parts wherehouses.... There is a whole other world of automatics out there past the th-350.....Some of them you get one snap ring on up side down and they won't work (this is being sarcastic) but you get the point..... All the better shops i have been in have people remove and install the trans and the tech's just do the rebuilds.

Just about every mid size or larger town has a votech or Jr. college that offers such courses. You get your ASE certification after you can document that you have the required job experience. You may have done a hundered tranny's on your own but until you have gone to school it will be very hard to get hired on at a good shop unless you know someone on the inside. If you let them that you are in a trade school they might have some kinda of assistants job to offer you. GOod techs are getting so hard to find that many employers are going to the votech to hire them right out of school.
