Trans Am 4 speed
While snooping around a neighbors junkyard, I discoverd a 76 Trans Am, with a 400 and a 4 speed. My question is, aside from the bellhousing, could I stick the trans into my 68 chevelle without too much horsing around? I have a 350 engine in case anyone was wondering.

If it's the orginal transmission in that T/A it's going to have the 26 spline input and 32 spline tail shaft. Your chevelle would have came with a 10 spline input and 27 spline out put. It's not a real big deal changing it over you are probably going to get a new clutch anyway so just get the new 26 spline clutch and that takes car of that problem. Then you just need a yoke for you drive shaft in the 32 spline verison. It will mount to the bell and use the same crossmember.

What sort of shape is the TA in? If it's good, don't do the tranny swap and let me know where this junkyard is. Just kidding about the swap, but kinda serious about the TA.

Car is pretty darn shot. It needs quarters for sure, and I dunno how bad it is underneath, but it seems to be sitting on the ground. Car is a dark red/maroon, was his h.s. car. It'd take more money than its worth to pry that thing away from him.
