trans bell housing on 66 mustang


just bought my first ford ..Question,I have a 66 mustang .. I have a c4 trans off a straight six..I was wondering if the bell housing and torq convertor will fit a 1966 289 ho motor..or do i have to get different bell housing and convertor. Thanks for any help

What year of in-line six do you have in your car?????.... If I remember right, post 68 in-line six's have the same bell housing as the SB V8 Ford engine. If not you will have to get a V8 bell housing, torque converter, flex plate and starter for a 289 swap.

Make sure the 289 you choose is 66 or later. 62/65 sbf's have a 5 bolt bellhousing. 66 up use a 6 bolt. Local 144/170/200/221/250 inlines have a 4 bolt bellhousing, don't know about 240/300s - only in trucks over here.
