I inquired about putting a trans brake in a 700R4 several years ago. No one seemed to think one was even available, might be now, but it was a general consensus that the 700R4, even though can be made to handle big HP/TQ, it's just not the trans for a brake.

Really, why a 700R4, when a 400 with a brake is commonplace, or a powerglide with a brake.

With pro-stock power, I doubt the 4th gear, OD, would last long no matter what has been done to the trans. Depending on how much power you are talking about, a Bruno, or something similar might be in your future.

I would suggest you call around to all the major builders that specialize in OD transmissions. Ask them if such a thing is doable.

Mainly for the overdrive for occaisonal street driving. But from what I'm seeing its gonna be a th350 or 400 due to lack of aftermarket parts for the 700r4

I still don't know of anyone making a Brake for a 700R4. The splines in the aluminum Input Drum can't handle the shock. They are also know to crack where the Input Shaft is pressed in. I don't think anyone makes a Steel Drum for it, wouldn't be cheap, this is a large part & Steel = heavy.
