Trans swap s-10 to 1500?

I have a 94 GMC 1500 4X4 with a 5.7L and a bad 4l60E. I found a rebuilt 4l60E out of a 94 S-10 with a 4.3 Vortec. Will this work in my 1500 without any mods? i.e put it in, plug it in and go?

the help u need

Yes they will swap with each other. The only difference is some of the clutch packs. The v8 will have more clutches on some of the packs and also might have more line pressure, but that wont make much of a difference.

Less clutch packs and the torque converter specifically set up for a V-6's torque output, and installing it behind a V-8 and adding a good 1000 pounds of a heavier vehicle to ask it to move around, you are just asking for that transmission to fail miserably with this swap.

Not a good idea in my opinion.

I have a 700r4 in my 70 chevy pick up with a 375horse 350 3.73 posi. the trans came from a 89 s10 and the only thing i did was rebuild it. It has been in my truck for six years now and no problems what so ever.

It will plug and play

But, there is subtle differences in the actual hydraulic control. Meaning, a 6 banger in a light vehicle doesn't have the boost fluid pressure a V8 does, factory. So actually, its kind of a light duty transmission, basically, w/o getting into the theory of it Good luck
