Trans wires?

I have a 68 C20 with what I believe is a Muncie SM 465 4 spd trans. This trans has a couple of wires that go into the top forward corner on the drivers side. I've traced them into a harness in the engine compartment but haven't a clue where they go from there.

Anyone know what they are for? Maybe a back-up alarm that doesn't work?
(There is no evidence of an alarm ever having been on the truck)

Thanks...

Trans wires

Thanks guys, none of the manuals I have even hinted at back up lights, and one of them is a '68 Truck Chassis manual from Chevrolet! Go figure.
