Transaxle Identification
Yes, transaxle as in FWD. Stop reading now if chatting about FWD makes you want to hurl.
I've searched the web and come up with nothing on this, so I thought I'd try here. I discovered last night that my Allante has "junkyard writing" on the transaxle, making me suspect it has been replaced. The Allante originally came with the F7, which was a beefed up 440t4. Later the 440t4 was revised and became the 4t60, and then later, the 4t60e. Externally, it should be easy to tell a 4t60e from the rest, but how do you differentiate between an F7/440T4/4T60 if you came across one in the junkyard, or someone offered it for sale (or you found it in your car)? Any help would be much appreciated. |

the 4T60E has a round electrical connector about 1.25 inches in diameter with about 12 wires to it.
the others have small square shaped conectors, about 3/4 inch in size.
