ok ill start off by saying i have a 1979 chevy k10 with a 350 and th350 trany i have a np203 and that is what i have questions about, when i was workin on my truck i noticed that the rear cover that the speedo cable plugs into is different from all the pics i have seen on line. my speedo cable plugs in on the passenger side and all the pics i have seen its on the drivers side, so i took it off and fliped it upside down but now the vent hose is on the bottum and leaks alil oil. im so confused any help would be great i dont know what to do thank you.

The vent must be in the up position.

The speedometer cable does not know what side the cable attaches to : drivers or passenger side. All the cable does is spin.

I suspect You have another problem that is causing the cable to go bad. Too tight of angles, speedometer head problems can damage a cable
