Post transmission

have a 1999 gmc sonoma, and i recently did a transmission fluid change on it(for the first time for me) it has about 70,000miles. i pulled the pan down, cleaned off the old seal, pulled down the filter, then put the filter back on, then the new seal and pan. i then put about three quarts of transmission fluid in ran the car for about 5 minutes, but i ididn't drive it that day, the next day i went to drive it and the engine starts fine, but nothing happenes when i shift it, like the transmission isn't shifting. i checked the linkage, and it seems fine, moving with the shifter. does anyone have an idea of what i did wrong?

First thing I would do is check the fluid level with car level and in park. Then would consider dropping the pan and making sure the filter is in correctly. Also as Crosley told me awhile ago to make sure that the old filter "O" ring was taken out before the install. It could crack the filter and then will suck air.
