Welcome to the board. You are obviously new, as you are yelling(using caps).

To start, you need to supply some information to get some. The vehicle was changed to an auto trans, fine. What kind of trans? Most auto trans have dipsticks for checking the fluid. The dipstick should usually be on the right side of the engine compartment near the firewall.

Hope this helps.

Do you have any idea what year the trans came from, as in newer or possibly the same period of the vehicle? Can you check the shape of the trans pan to help identify the trans? Is it the original engine in it? Just trying to get some info to go by. Also check at the trans on the front near the bellhousing. You should see where the tube runs from or to.

That must be one OLD auto trans! The only one I can think of that would have a location as you describe would be the original GM Hydramatic. I know Ford bought some for Lincons, but don't think they used them anywhere else until they came out with their own auto (actually a joint venture with Studebaker and Borg Warner) in the mid 50s (about 1954). I've messed with some of the late 50s models and they all had regular dip sticks, but it's possible the first ones didn't.
