Post transmission 700R4

Hi i,m new at this .People call me chubby I,ve look but dident see what i was looking for.Found how to hook up a 700R4 but would like to find out if by locking out the converter would helpwith gas mileage and would keep me from changing the rear end i,m running 411 now i have a 51 hudson the rear end is stock look for another rear end to put in with out alot of changes thanks for any help i can get

Locking up the touqe converter will definatly help. Summit Racing is out of stock right now, but will have on the 5th of the next month a Torque Converter Control Kit(GM 700R4) that you can control when the thing locks up. Nice gizzmo to have even if you do end up swapping out the rear axle later.

I think the 700r4 will make a big difference. I just put one in my 67 chevy pickup with a 373 rearend and it made a world of difference. The kit for the lockup converter would probably be your best bet, but if you don't want to mess with that you can wire a toggle switch. If you look at the four prong connector, the one on the outside and to the front of your tranny needs to be grounded to the tranny. The one on the outside of the tranny and to the rear run to your toggle switch, and of course run your switch to an accessory that gets power when you turn the key on
