Transmission/flywheel Knock

I Have A 1986 350/350 Combo That Has A Knock In Park/neutral. It Does Not Knock In Drive. I Unbolted The The Torque Converter And The Knock Does Not Seem To Be There. The Bolts All Seem To Be Right Length And There Is Good Clearence Does Not Look Like Anything Is Scraping Or Hitting. Can This Be A Broken Flywheel That Only Knocks When Torque Converter Is Bolted Up. Or Is This Something Else. Thanks For Any Advice

Sounds like the flexplate is cracked.

definitely flex plate!!! just had one at work about a month ago on a 4.3l vortec (SBC 350 with 2 cylinder knocked off) that busted the outer starter mounting bolt hole off of the block because of a broken flex plate. Flex plate is a cheap fix. We put another engine in ours, and it's a savanna VAN. Pain in the ole arse. Brian
