I have a 4 speed behind a 283 Chevy. I am going to put in a 350 with an automatic. Question is how can I tell what 4 speed to advertise it as when I go to sell it? I know it is a Muncie but without taking it apart how can I tell if it is a close or wide ratio box?
Thanks <img src="confused.gif" border="0"> |

Put it in first gear.
Turn the input shaft. If it turns 2 and 1/2 turns to the output shaft's 1 turn.....it is a wide ratio (2.54) Turn the input shaft. If it turns barely past 2 turns to the output shaft's 1 turn.....it is a close ratio (2.20)
