Transmission leaking again

I'm looking for suggestions for my transmission pan gasket. The last two times, I have used rubber. And twice it has leaked on the thin side(th350 has a thin wall pan surface on the gear shift side).
Any ideas would be appreciated....rubber, cork, silicone, any combinations thereof.

Thanks
Willy

Use a cork gasket and 3M weatherstrip adhesive instead of RTV or silicone. Make sure all surfaces are clean, really clean. Don't overtighten the bolts. Make sure the pan flange is flat and the bolt holes are not deformed. If they are, flatten them back out with a small hammer. Are you using a stamped pan or an aftermarket aluminum? I prefer the heavier aluminum style myself.

It is the original pan. And I bought some 3m weatherstripping adhesive a few days ago for another project so I really like what you're saying.

I agree with S10 racer, just be sure not to use too much adhesive so it can not get inside the trans.

After further inspection, I just found that my leak is from the transmission dip stick port. Any recommendations for sealing?

Replace the boot or o-ring.

FWIW I have had much better results using the later-style "boot" seal than the earlier O-ring type seal. IIRC the last one I did used the late boot seal and the early O-ring dipstick, but check to be sure the tube fits tightly into the later boot seal if the tube is the earlier O-ring type.

Be sure the retaining tab that holds the tube in isn't bent from removing the engine and trans w/the tube in place. If it is bent, just tweak it back so you can reinstall it w/o the bracket causing the tube to be forced out of position from the bracket being bent.

Later "boot" seal:

Talked to a friend just now, he remembers me having to use a later tube w/the boot seal- but that the later boot seal AND tube fit the earlier case.

X2^^, O-ring type tube always leaked, had to use lots of sealer with it. Boot type tube is much better.
