Transmission Linkage

I'm performing my first carburetor swap and just about done but had a rookie question on how the transmission linkage (see pics) works with the carb? Is this a vacuum configuration? Pretend I know nothing, which in this case is true!

Task: Installing new Edelbrock600 cfm, square-flange, electric choke
(non-EGR).

Make: Chevrolet
Model: Impala SS
Year: 1964
Engine: 327 ci
Tran: 350 auto
Carb: Edelbrock

The TH350 trans needs two connections, a vacuum hose to the engine to operate the vacuum modulator and a kickdown cable, which is what you've shown in the pictures. The cable needs to be connected to the throttle arm on the carb so that it is pulled at wide open throttle. E-brock sells fittings for their carbs to connect it. The vacuum line just needs to be connected to a port on the intake or the carb that has full manifold vacuum, (ie, maximum suction at idle and none at wide open throttle).
