transmission and pinion shaft mis-alighnment
Now that I have my frame done and the rear 4 bar suspension and axle installed, I discovered that my welder installed my 4 bar axle brackets one inch and an eighth to the left. Now that my pinion is one and an eighth inch to the right of center, begs the question among others. Does the trans. shaft and pinion have to line up straight on laterally or is there an excepted amount of ms-alignment ?
I measured from end to end for the degree angle, and it came out 1.5 degrees.
I could move the drive train over to the right this amount, but buying new brackets and having them re-welded would be less of a hassle.

Should not be a problem. Ford motor company has used offset pinion rear ends since the fifties with no bad effects.

Ford GT ?
The first new Ford Gt ( Modern version of the old GT 40 ) had the rear of the body tilted up and the rear half shafts have a lot of off set from the Dif out to the wheels. I was used to looking at corvette and Jag Irs and spotted it right away.

The output shaft and pinion shaft are offset up and down normally. There's no difference between an offset in that direction and an offset side-to-side. What IS important is that the two shafts need to be parallel.

Is the rear end centered in the frame? How in the living hell does someone do this, does he not have a measuring tape? You should buy him a measuring tape so he doesn't do this to the next guy.:pain:

I'd be more concerned about the tires being offset than the pinion. Neither will "hurt", but one will look like dammit while the other will never be seen...

No reason to get excited. Even a couple inches right or left wont mean a thing. If it was an issue, then you couldn't have a driveline that ran uphill to the trans either. As mentioned, stock Fords have been this way for many decades.
