I put a carb spacer on my 350. Some how the vacum now is not enough to help the transmission shift gears. The tranny is a auto 350 and wants to stick in the high end of each gear. Its causing the engine to run high rpms because it wont shift. Its good for racing but its bad for everyday driver. Does any one know how I can adjust the carb to pull more of a vacum for the transmission.

You didn't mention where you have the trans modulator vacuum fitting hooked up right now?. I take it that you have a small block chevy, so the trans vacuum should be hooked up to the intake manifold. The factory runs this a fitting off a manifold runner behind the carb. Also long duration camshafts do have a significant effect on the vacuum signal and sometimes cause shift point problems. Good luck on your project.

kemo,
Make sure you didn't kink the rubber vacuum line at the modulator when you wrestled the upper part of the line into its new position, very common problem. |
