transmission questions.

1 shallow puddle later i'm replacing the transmission in my durango. it has the 46re with lockup convertor.

Yesterday i got the new trans in and had a few questions. do i need to pour some fluid in the convertor before i install it? also has anyone every tried the valve body reprogram kit for a 46re? what type of results should this bring? thanks Eric

the trans converter does not require filling prior to installation.. the trans pump fills the converter as the engine runs.

Check the proper procedure for filling - checking this trans.. In neutral with parking brake on. I suggest a person inside the vehicle to hold the brakes on too.

the TransGo kits for the 46re trans work well. I would keep the settings on the mild side for street use

My take on this is any rebuild where new parts are involved need a certain amount of time to wear in together before putting the hammer down in earnest.

That said, 1K might be a bit excessive but wouldn't hurt. A couple hundred would suffice, IMHO.

thanks for the aadvice, I've already put 64 miles on it ( usually drive the mazda for the mileage). shifts are great at partial throtle, the new stall is going to take a bit to get used to (2200rpm), other then that everything is great and I'm extremly satisfied. I didn't rebuild the transmission myself though, bought it through a company called santan transmissions out of queen creek arizona, very good company as far as my experience with them. once again, thanks for the help everyone.
