Transmission/Rearend

I am dropping a 383 stroker in my 1993 GMC pickup
for street and to show.Would it benefit me to go to a different transmission and rearend for gas mileage or leave the stock transmission and rearend in the truck?

What trans and rear end do you have now?

It all depends on what you have.If you started
with a 350/automatic trans setup I would keep the
automatic,maybe install a shift kit(depending on
if you are pulling or racing),and change the rear
gear ratio to 3.73(if available). This should give
you enough pulling power and help to get you off
the line quick enough.

If you started with anything smaller(a 305 or
**gasp** a 4.3 V6)then you will need a stronger
trans and possibly rear end(doubt it on the rear
end though, probably just the gear change.)

If you need any more help just e-mail me at
