I have a 1968 Ford Fairlane with a great running 200ci. six cyl. it is an awesome car except with the 3 on the tree it has absolutely no passing gear. I want to preserve this care mostly as it is, but, I really want to have a 5 speed to optmize the power that it does have so I can drive it on a daily basis. I suspect that I will have to change the rear-end ratio to effectively optomize the 6's power. I am willing to do this. but I need to know if I am going to run into problems with clearence associated with bench seat ect. it would be great to talk to someone who had done a three on the tree to a t-5 swap in a old Ford jewell as so that I get what I want the first try. Later I would like to slide in a 302 so I want to cover that base as well please please someone help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really want to preserve this car and be able to drive it forever. dang close to the coolest care made in the late 60's.
